Anthony Anderson To Host 2024 Emmy Awards – VIBE.com

Anthony Anderson has been tapped to host the 75th annual Primetime Emmy awards

Variety reports that The Emmys will take place at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater and telecast on Fox. Anderson voiced his excitement about returning to normalcy after the recent strikes hitting the entertainment industry.

“With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love—dressing up and honoring ourselves. And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards,” Anderson said in a press release. “When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”

Fox Entertainment’s unscripted programming prexy, Allison Wallach, also had some words regarding Anderson’s new gig. She stated that Anthony’s hosting duties on new show We Are Family were the proof they needed to select him.

“After Anthony hosted our upcoming show We Are Family, we knew he’d be a natural fit for a star-studded, anticipatory night like the Emmys,” Wallach said. “Anthony’s known for his humor, heart and spontaneity, so he’s sure to give audiences in the theater and at home a night they’ll never forget.”

“Anthony is a multi-talented performer and a great friend to the Television Academy. We are thrilled that he is hosting what promises to be a rich celebration of the year’s outstanding television, as well as 75 years of Emmys excellence,” TV Academy chairman Frank Scherma added to the official statement.

The last time Anthony Anderson was an Emmy host was back in 2019. Fox didn’t have a host that year, but Anderson still acted as a co-host of sorts. The Simpsons were a big part of that ceremony’s opening and saw Homer getting crushed by a piano.

“What the hell was that?” the comedian responded from the audience. He then rose to the occasion to “save the Emmys” as a makeshift MC.

The 75th annual Primetime Emmy awards will air live on January 15, 2024 at 8 PM EST.
