Pureplay Entertainment is ready to play in Nashville.
The film, TV and digital production entity is expanding its reach by confirming the opening of a new Nashville office in partnership with music industry insiders Hannah Martin Eason and Joseph Martin. The pair will work as executives at the company, which was founded by CEO Dan McClung in 2016. In other Pureplay moves, the company has signed with WME for representation.
“I’ve known Hannah and Joseph since the beginning of their careers in L.A. over a decade ago,” McClung said. “Their work ethic and passion for Nashville stories make them exceptional partners. They have an organic love for country music and a deep understanding of the industry, which is invaluable as we tell stories from this perspective to a wider audience.”
L.A.-based Pureplay’s newest project is Written in the Sand. The film, currently in post-production, was developed out of Pureplay Nashville. It casts Courtney Grace and singer-songwriter J.T. Hodges in the story of a community being rebuilt after a hurricane. The story is inspired by real events. Another Pureplay project in the works is a country music documentary.
Pureplay’s previous films include Wild Indian, a 2021 Sundance selection that sold to Vertical Entertainment, and TV work for clients like Amazon and Sony on content for The Boys, Jack Ryan and Wheel of Time.
Martin Eason began her career as an agent trainee at WME where she booked fairs and festivals for the firm’s client roster. She transitioned to the Academy of Country Music where she ran ACM Lifting Lives, working closely with artists like Darius Rucker, Lee Brice, Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Hunter Hayes, Keith Urban, Little Big Town and Lady A. Her resume also includes a stint at the HQ where she worked with Carrie Underwood on the country superstar’s brand partnerships and charitable initiatives.
Martin most recently worked as a music at CAA representing and booking clients such as Brett Eldredge, Jelly Roll, Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Keith Urban and Brett Young. Prior to CAA, he was an agent trainee at WME booking clubs, arenas and fairs and festivals for the agency’s clients. Before segueing to music, he worked at BermanBraun — now operating under the moniker Whalerock Industries — where he worked under founders Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun. During his tenure there, he met Pureplay founder McClung who held a variety of roles at BermanBraun specializing in digital video producing and content creation.
“We really admire what Dan has built over the past 8 years,” the Martins said in a joint statement. “We’re so excited that this partnership has brought us back to our roots and we can now lean into all the pieces of our background, from music to VC and tech — to come full circle into business development for Pureplay.”
