T-Pain Discusses Facing Racism For Writing Country Songs | Entertainment


T-Pain says that he does not like to be credited for writing country songs due to “the racism that comes after it.” In a video posted to his TikTok account, the singer explained his love for country music and his involvement in writing country hits. “I done wrote a lot of country songs [but] I stopped taking credit for it because as cool as it is to see your name in those credits… the racism that comes after it is just like, ‘I’ll just take the check. Don’t put me on that’,” said T-Pain. In the video, he discussed his love of gospel and country, saying the harmonies he uses are inspired by country music. T-Pain revealed that he has been ghostwriting for country songs for years and has worked with the likes of Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan. He also said that there are a lot of stars that he writes for secretly, saying he has “written a lot for a lot of very important country artists.”
