Who won American Idol?
Carter won the popular vote, triumphing over fellow contestants Will Moseley, a 23-year-old musician from Hazelhurst, Georgia, and Jack Blocker, a 25-year-old graphic designer from Dallas, Texas.
The three-hour finale was a celebration of music, featuring guest performances by Jon Bon Jovi, 2004 “Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino, Jason Mraz, Wynonna Judd, Seal, and New Kids on the Block.

In addition to the title, Carter will receive $250,000 and a recording contract with Hollywood Records/19 Recordings, according to Distractify.

Will there be another season?
ABC has officially renewed “American Idol” for a 23rd season, though a premiere date has yet to be announced. Judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan are set to return, but Katy Perry’s departure leaves a vacancy on the panel. Perry announced in February that she is leaving the show to “focus on other endeavors.” Her replacement has not yet been named.

Who is Abi Carter?
Carter is a 21-year-old musician from Indio, California. According to Parade magazine, Carter has six siblings and is the second oldest child in her family. She comes from a religious family and was raised by her single mother, Andrea Carter.
She graduated from California State University San Bernardino with a degree in psychology.
According to her website, she grew up singing in churches, in talent shows, and later in local competitions.
Her debut single, “It’s All Love,” was inspired by her personal experience of finding the right person at the wrong time. “Meeting him felt like meeting my right hand,” she says in her website, describing her hard-earned romance as “the greatest love story of all time.”
