Dolly Parton and family to tape show at Knoxville’s Bijou Theatre for new album

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Dolly Parton and her family will be in Knoxville next week to tape a show as part of her latest album: Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables.

Dolly announced the album, slated for Nov. 15, at Dollywood Friday as she helped unveil The Dolly Parton Experience. The album will include several of her family members and focus on both sides of her family: the Partons and the Owens.

“I cannot believe that it has been 60 years this month since I graduated from Sevier County High School and moved to Nashville to pursue my dreams,” Dolly said. “My Uncle Bill Owens was by my side for many years helping me develop my music. I owe so much to him and all the family members past and present who have inspired me along this journey. I am honored to spotlight our families’ musical legacy that is my Smoky Mountain DNA.”

The show taping is planned for Tuesday, May 28 and the following Wednesday and Thursday. It’ll be used as part of a docuseries focusing on the family’s historic move from the United Kingdom to East Tennessee. The public is invited to come for free, but spots are currently filled. However, there is a waitlist for anyone who wants to try and snag a spot.

The event itself will start at 4:30 p.m. all three days and go through 8 p.m.
