Dallas Mavericks Sign Naji Marshall To A 3-Year, $27 Million Deal

The Dallas Mavericks are signing forward Naji Marshall, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Marshall agreed to a three-year, $27 million deal to join Dallas.

Dallas will use a significant portion of its $12.9 million midlevel exception to sign Marshall, ESPN’s Tim MacMahon reports. The signing indicates that the Mavericks will not be able to re-sign free agent forward Derrick Jones Jr.

Re-signing Jones was a top priority for GM Nico Harrison heading into free agency. However, Jones’ move to Klutch Sports — requiring an NBPA-mandated 15-day wait period to change representation — and the team’s sign-and-trade pursuit of five-time NBA All-Star Klay Thompson appear to have derailed those plans.

The team held out hopes that it could land Thompson and re-sign Jones as recently as Sunday morning, according to Marc Stein.

Marshall, 26, averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 66 games with the New Orleans Pelicans last season. He also shot a career-best 46.3% overall, including 38.7% from deep.
