Description

The School of Liberal Arts at Tulane University invites applicants for the position of Professor-of-Practice in the Newcomb Department of Music to teach with the Strategy, Leadership & Analytics Minor (SLAM) to reaffirm and strengthen our place in a city where music means business.

The successful candidate will have expertise and teaching experience in two or more of the following: music industries, music in contemporary creative industries, music entrepreneurship, and/or career skills applicable to a wide range of jobs in creative industries. In this truly interdisciplinary position, we welcome those with media industry marketing experience dealing with labels, promoters, etc, who might help students understand music and entertainment industry economics.

Our Professors of the Practice have full-time faculty contracts with full benefits, renewable after periods of 3-3-5 years. The anticipated start date for this position is July 1, 2024.

The teaching load is 3 and 3, with the professor expected to develop and teach courses on music industries and creative industry careers more generally (development, marketing, distribution, etc.).


Qualifications

Qualified candidates for this position will have either a terminal degree in a music industry-related field by June 30, 2023 or substantial work experience in media industries and working with creative practitioners.
