A lot is going on in Cardi B’s life right now, but none of that will affect her mission to drop her long-awaited sophomore album.
According to a report TMZ published on Friday, August 2, the Bronx native still plans to release her new LP by the end of 2024. The hype for the album was immediately overshadowed by the news about her divorce from her husband Offset and her pregnancy. Nonetheless, Bardi aims to drop the anticipated project later this year. The album is reportedly “three-quarters of the way done,” but she still has five months left to wrap things up and drop it.
The 31-year-old artist has already served up several singles from the project including “Enough (Miami)” and “Like What.” In addition, she’s also linked up with several major stars for massive collaborations including Rob49’s “On Dat Money,” Flo Milli’s “Never Lose Me” with SZA and Shakira’s “Punteria.” Sources with knowledge about the album say fans can expect to see more collaborations on her upcoming album. However, it’s not clear if her soon-to-be ex-husband will make the cut.
Cardi B and Offset have been married since 2017 and share two kids together, Kulture and Wave. They’ve also collaborated on some fire songs in the past like “Clout” and “Jealousy.” Both songs appeared on Offset’s previous studio albums Father of 4 (2019) and Set It Off, which dropped in 2023.
It’s been six years since Cardi B dropped her debut album Invasion of Privacy. Since then, she discussed several ideas for future projects including a Spanish-language LP and a joint album with ‘Set, but it looks like those plans could be scrapped indefinitely.
As of this report, a release date for Cardi’s sophomore effort has not been confirmed.
