Taylor Swift fans won’t let a scary situation keep them from celebrating their favorite artist.
A large number of Swfities gathered in the streets of Vienna on Thursday (August 8) to sing and meet other fans after news that the musician’s three sold-out Eras Tour concerts in the Austrian city had been canceled, per Page Six. Thursday marks what would have been Swift’s first night of shows at Ernst Happel Stadium, but the dates were canceled on the previous day following a reported foiled terror plot targeting the venue that resulted in multiple arrests.
The crowd of would-be concertgoers brought the Eras Tour out into the streets near the stadium as they traded friendship bracelets, danced and sang some of Swift’s biggest hits like “Cruel Summer” and “All Too Well.”
“People were crying, holding hands, singing along softly,” one witness told CNN. “It was such a beautiful moment, a pocket of beauty amidst the disappointment and anger.”
One beautiful moment amid the darkness surrounding foiled planned attack was captured by people in the crowd as two Swifties got engaged reportedly as others sang “Love Story.” In a video shared online, the couple appear overcome with emotion in an opening in the crowd as fellow fans cheered around them.
