The Shonda Rhimes acclaimed hit series, Grey’s Anatomy, is the longest running primetime show in television history. It is set around a hospital in Seattle called Seattle Grace Hospital (later changed to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital).
There are dedicated fans of the show who travel to Seattle just to see the world through the fictional eyes of Ellen Pompeo Meredith Grey. They are currently filming for Season 20 of the show, which premieres on Thursday, September 26, 2024, on ABC.
When Grey’s Anatomy first came out back in 2005, I watched the first season, then fell off watching it after somebody died in a car crash.
I remember Dr. McDreamy, but I think I stopped watching it before Dr. McSteamy came along.
I was so bummed out when Sandra Oh left Grey’s Anatomy!
There were a few actors who got fired in real life in a dramatic fashion from Grey’s Anatomy, but one firing stood above the rest and the gossip about that story lingers on to this day. Trivia Question: What was her name?
Grey’s Anatomy is filmed on location in Los Angeles at Prospect Studios and other notable places in California.
The Redwood Room at Calamigos Ranch was used for a Grey’s Anatomy wedding of Dr. Miranda Bailey and her boo, Dr. Warren.
Calamigos Ranch is located in Malibu.

The roof Seattle’s leading news source is where they use as the setting of the Grey Sloan Memorial’s hospital helipad.
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND FERRY
Whenever you see one of the characters take a Seattle ferry ride, they likely have filmed scenes from the deck of the Bainbridge Island Ferry (or any of the others, for that matter).
GREY’S ANATOMY INTERN HOUSE
I won’t give out the address in writing because it is a private property, but you can view it on Google Street View.
KERRY PARK
A lot of scenes from Season 15 were filmed using this location as the TV show backdrop.
