Celebrity Shoot-Out | Arts and Entertainment News

In 1998, Bally’s brought in acclaimed golf architect Tom Doak (Pacific Dunes, Stonewall) to improve the course conditions, rebuild the tees and greens and redesign some holes where needed. The result is a top-rated championship course in perfect condition, and with some of the fastest greens anywhere, a real treat for those privileged to play there.

The real fun is not only for the celebrities and amateurs, but also for you, the spectators. You get a chance to visit one of the best courses in the region and you can see, and talk to, some of your favorite NFL stars, sports Hall of Famers and entertainment celebrities. Sunday’s ACME Celebrity Shoot-Out marks the 10th year that Jaws will host an array of truly outstanding marquis celebrity golfers, competing with their amateur partners for the $100,000 purse.

Listen to this impressive field – on offense, you’ve got QB’s Ron Jaworski and Joe Theismann, All-Pro running back Marshall Faulk from the Rams, and former All Pro wideout Sterling Sharpe. On defense, there’s heavy hitting nose tackle Tony Siragusa, all-time sack leaders Michael Strahan of the NY Giants and future Hall of Famer Bruce Smith, and linebackers Brian Cox, and Eagle All Pro favorite, Jeremiah Trotter. For extra measure, throw in the “Doctor of Dunk,” a legend on and off the basketball court, “Dr J” Julius Erving of the 1983 world champion Philadelphia 76ers.

They may not look it, but these guys can play golf. They still have that competitive, take-no-hostages instinct to win, so expect some heavy needling.
