‘Industry’ Season 3 Hits Audience Record With Third Episode, Up 23% From Premiere

Industry is heating up on HBO.

The finance drama hit an audience record with the third episode of Season 3, raking in 370,000 cross-platform viewers on Sunday night, according to Nielsen and Warner Bros. Discovery internal viewing figures. The episode, which marked a pivotal moment in Harper’s (Myha’la) career post-Pierpoint, was directed Zoe Wittock.

That’s a strong lift from the 300,000 flat that tuned into the Season 3 premiere the night it aired.

According to HBO, the premiere episode of Season 3 is now tracking around 1.4M viewers, which is significantly ahead of last season, when about 900,000 had tuned into the Season 2 debut in this time frame.

This might seem like small potatoes compared to some of HBO’s other Sunday night fare. Industry took up the mantle in the marquee time slot from House of the Dragon, which saw 8.9M viewers the night of the Season 2 finale.

However, Industry was not expected to put up those kinds of numbers, as it is a much more modest series that is not attached to any major IP and whose main cast was fairly young and unknown when the series began.

It has been chugging along through its first two seasons with a fairly small but dedicated audience, previously airing on Monday nights. The hope was that by placing it in HBO’s prime Sunday night spot, the series would gain more recognition. This appears to be working, so far.

There are eight episodes in Season 3, with the finale set for September 29.

Set in the world of high finance, a pressure-cooker environment, the Mickey Down-Konrad Kay drama series takes place at international bank Pierpoint & Co’s London office. In Season 3, Harper’s (Myha’la) departure from the firm puts her in an interesting position as Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), and Eric (Ken Leung) pursue a new investing opportunity in the form of a green energy company led by Kit Harington’s Henry Muck.

Season 3 cast also includes Conor MacNeill, Sagar Radia, Indy Lewis, Adam Levy, Sarah Parish, Trevor White, Elena Saurel and Irfan Shamji. Other newcomers are Miriam Petche, Roger Barcklay, Fady Elsayed, Fiona Button and Sarah Goldberg.
