Like many fans and peers, Halsey is mourning the loss of Liam Payne, and shared their thoughts in a letter posted to her Tumblr account.
In her message, they shared that she had been a fan of One Direction as a teen, and then after becoming a “peer of” as an adult, she had actually bought a home that Liam previously owned. Halsey began her letter, recalling, “I loved one direction with an all-consuming force when I was younger. It hurts deeply to mourn someone you were a massive fan of as teenager, and became a peer of as an adult.”
Elsewhere, they revealed that the house she purchased that once belonged to Liam was rumored to be haunted, but shared why they believed Liam when he assured her it wasn’t. Halsey recalled, “A few years ago I purchased a home that Liam previously owned. There were rumors the house was haunted. He assured me it was not, and I believed him. Because I know the ghosts that haunt us aren’t tethered to buildings. They live in parts of us that are harder to reach and they go wherever we do.”
Halsey concluded the note by sharing her condolences, writing, “As a parent, a fellow artist, and a fan, i simply cannot fathom this untimely loss. my heart goes out to his family, friends, and the fans.”

Liam passed away from injuries sustained after falling from his hotel room balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was just 31 years old, and leaves behind his seven-year-old son Bear, who he shares with ex Cheryl Cole.
