Acquired Quarterback Joshua Dobbs via Trade with Cardinals


Minnesota hosted Arizona in the teams’ third preseason game two days later, but Dobbs did not take any snaps in that contest.

He, however, started, Arizona’s first eight games of 2023.

A native of Alpharetta, Georgia, Dobbs was a standout at the University of Tennessee, where he majored in aerospace engineering. He ranks fifth in program history with 7,138 career passing yards and 53 touchdowns and fourth with 614 pass completions. He helped the Volunteers win three Bowl games as a starting quarterback.

Dobbs was drafted in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom he played for in 2017 and 2018. He was traded to the Jaguars in Week 1 of the 2019 season, then had a second stint with the Steelers in 2020. He spent time with the Lions, Browns and Titans in 2022 before rejoining Cleveland in the spring being acquired by Arizona via trade on Aug. 24.

Over 16 career games played (10 starts), Dobbs is 217-of-351 passing for 2,025 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions with a passer rating of 77.6.

Minnesota placed Cousins on Injured Reserve Tuesday.
