Actress Jen Lilley Challenges Christians to Take Back Ground in the Entertainment Industry

Christian films have continued to improve, becoming higher quality and reaching larger audiences over the past few years, and Hallmark/Great American Family Channel actress Jen Lilley is not upset about it, as she mentioned while on the red carpet for the “Unsung Hero” premiere in Nashville, Tennessee. She wants the trend to continue.

“It is time for Christians to take ground in the entertainment industry,” Jen said. “There has been so much, what I would frankly, quite frankly, say is unpalatable Christian material has been out there. It’s been hard to consume.”

While Jen believes some of the previous Christian material has not been of the greatest quality, she says Christians have a mandate and are called by the Bible to be better and produce better work.

“And we are called in the Kingdom of God; the Bible calls us to do things of excellence,” Jen said. “I have heard this movie is even better than some other awesome movies that I love. And I am so pumped because I think that it’s time for every single movie to be better than the next movie, to be better than the next movie, you know?”

Near the end of the clip, Jen mentioned that Christians must continue to see and support faith-based films.

“And we need to take back the box office,” she said. “We’ve already done it, but we need to continue to do it.”

Shying away from and avoiding the theaters is not the way to see more Christian and faith-based films. Hollywood looks closely at those box office returns. If those executives see Christian films continuing to perform well and bringing in money, then it’s a safe bet that more will start appearing at multiplexes.
