Alec Baldwin Pleads Not Guilty To New ‘Rust’ Manslaughter Charge | Entertainment

Alec Baldwin has pleaded not guilty to a new involuntary manslaughter charge over the shooting incident on the set of Rust in 2021. The shooting resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuries to director Joel Souza. Baldwin claims that he was rehearsing handling the pistol for a scene, and the gun discharged without him intentionally pulling the trigger. Baldwin denies blame, stating he was unaware the gun was loaded and there should not have been live ammunition on set. Similar charges against the 65-year-old actor were dropped in April 2023, just two weeks before he was due to stand trial. However, the charges were refiled, with New Mexico prosecutors saying there was new forensic evidence to consider.
