At a special screening during Beyond Fest at the Aero Theater in Los Angeles, Director Fede Alvarez announced that 20th Century Studios will release the sci-fi horror thriller Alien: Romulus on limited edition VHS on December 3. This fully functional VHS tape, a dream for movie collectors, commemorates the 45th anniversary of the iconic Alien franchise and features box art by renowned artist Matt Ferguson.
Attendees included David Jonsson, Isabela Merced, Shane Mahan, Matt Ferguson, and Lee Gilmore, with the Q&A moderated by Jim Hemphill from Indiewire.
In Alien: Romulus, Fede Alvarez takes the celebrated Alien franchise back to its terrifying roots, receiving praise from critics such as Brian Truitt (USA Today), who called it “sheer terror,” and Andrew J. Salazar (Discussing Film), who described it as “utterly breathtaking.” Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes™, the film has already become the second highest-grossing entry in the franchise globally.
In this terrifying sci-fi horror thriller, a group of young colonizers scavenging a derelict space station comes face-to-face with the deadliest life form in the universe. Directed by Fede Alvarez, Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. The screenplay, written by Alvarez and collaborator Rodo Sayagues, is based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. The film is produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill.
Now available digitally, Alien: Romulus will also be released on December 3 on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD. These editions will feature exclusive bonus content, including behind-the-scenes featurettes with filmmakers Fede Alvarez and Ridley Scott and extended and alternate scenes.
