Apple Original Films has announced that the Martin Scorsese-directed and critically acclaimed “Killers of the Flower Moon” will begin streaming globally on Apple TV+ from Friday, January 12. This development follows the film’s impressive $156 million global box office performance and sets an intriguing template for the future of big-budget streamer films.


The film, featuring a star-studded cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and breakout talent Lily Gladstone, has already received widespread acclaim and recognition. As it gears up for its digital premiere, “Killers of the Flower Moon” is positioned perfectly within the awards season wheelhouse, considered a frontrunner for prestigious accolades.


“Killers of the Flower Moon” has amassed an impressive list of achievements, being honored as the Best Film of the Year by the National Board of Review and receiving 12 Critics Choice Award nominations, along with 7 Golden Globe Award nominations. The American Film Institute also recognized it in its list of Motion Pictures of the Year. Additionally, the film has secured a place on the Oscars shortlists in several categories, including Best Makeup and Hair, Best Sound, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song.

Adapted from David Grann’s book by Eric Roth and Scorsese, the film is set in 1920s Oklahoma and portrays the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, known as the Reign of Terror. The stellar ensemble cast includes DiCaprio, De Niro, Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion.
