Exhibit coincides with Film Days
COOPERSTOWN — Glimmerglass Film Days, a program of Otsego 2000, will present a series of films and related events exploring this year’s theme: Messengers, from Nov. 9 to 13. Related events include filmmaker talks, food and film pairings, parties, an art exhibit, trivia and guided walks.
According to a media release, the art exhibit “Future Memory” opened Tuesday, Nov. 7, at The Smithy at 55 Pioneer St. Participating artists are Megan Adams Irving, Ava Fedorov and Ashley Norwood Cooper.
Gallerist and Exhibit Curator Sydney Waller states in the release that “The art in “Future Memory” offers messages to sift, decipher and ponder, in keeping with this year’s Film Days theme.”
Meet the Artist events will be held at The Smithy from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Nov. 10 and 12.
The first film, “The Arc of Oblivion” will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9. “It will be presented for $8 in advance or $10 at the door and will be shown in the Grandstand Theater at the National Baseball Hall of Fame at 25 Main St. A question-and-answer session with director Ian Cheney will follow. An opening night party will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at The Smithy at 55 Pioneer St.
A second film, “Fashion Reimagined,” will be available to see for free at 9 p.m. along with a cash bar at Templeton Hall at 63 Pioneer St.

Word Thursdays to be broadcast
TREADWELL — Word Thursdays Online will be broadcast on Zoom and Facebook Live at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.
According to a media release, Jeff Leen, Chris Conway and Steve Friedman, will be the featured writers.
Leen oversees The Washington Post’s Investigative Unit which he joined as a reporter in 1997. Conway is an editor at The New York Times Opinion and NYT Sunday Review. Friedman has written four books, co-authored two New York Times bestsellers and has had numerous stories published in major newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Washington Post, Esquire and GQ, many of them sports-related.
The program has a $3 suggested donation. Students may participate for free.
