‘Barbie’ Director Greta Gerwig Finally Speaks About Oscars Snub | Entertainment

Greta Gerwig has spoken out for the first time since not receiving a nomination for Best Director at the Academy Awards for ‘Barbie.’ In an interview with Time, Gerwig said, “A friend’s mom said to me, ‘I can’t believe you didn’t get nominated.’” “I said, ‘But I did. I got an Oscar nomination. She was like, ‘Oh, that’s wonderful for you!’ I was like, ‘I know!'” replied Gerwig. The ‘Lady Bird’ director said she is focusing on the positive, including ‘Barbie’’s nominations for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. However, she admitted there could have been more attention on ‘Barbie’ and she is disappointed Margot Robbie wasn’t nominated for Best Actress. “Of course I wanted it for Margot,” the director shared, “but I’m just happy we all get to be there together.” At a recent SAG screening, Robbie shared how she felt about not being nominated, saying, “No way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed.”
