Pop star Bebe Rexha unleashed a furious X rant on Tuesday morning, threatening to expose the music industry’s secrets.
“I could bring down a BIG chunk of this industry,” the frustrated singer/songwriter tweeted. “I AM frustrated. I Have been UNDERMINED. I’ve been so quiet for the longest time. I haven’t seen the signs even though people constantly are bringing them up and they have been SO OBVIOUS. And when I have spoken up I’ve been silence and PUNISHED by this industry Things must change or I’m telling ALL of my truths. The good the bad and the ugly.”
Despite not providing specific details, Rexha did mention a past issue with the David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, and Afrojack song “Hey Mama,” for which she was initially not credited. To a fan, she replied, “That’s child’s play compared to all the other stuff you don’t know about.”
Rexha clarified that her posts were not motivated by anger but by sadness. “This is not just coming from a place of anger. It’s sadness. I’m sitting in my hotel room in London Crying my eyes out. I’ve felt hopeless for the longest time. I’ve been walking a lot through this city and meeting fans and they have really ignited something inside of me,” she wrote.
The latest rant follows Rexha’s criticizing rapper and former collaborator G-Eazy. The since-deleted message called out the “Me, Myself & I” hitmaker for past misconduct.
“Someone from my team had me take down my Instagram story,” Rexha explained. “I decided to remove it because it felt very negative and toxic. Sometimes trauma can lead us to react that way, and that period of my life was traumatizing. I am writing this because I regret taking it down and I want to say that I still stand by what I said.”
Besides her music career, which includes four top ten singles in the United States, Rexha has acted in the animated film UglyDolls (2019) and the feature film Queenpins (2021). Additionally, she has advocated against body-shaming in the entertainment industry.
In April 2023, Rexha addressed a TikTok search term about her body, stating, “I’m not mad cause it’s true. I did gain weight. But it just sucks. Thank you to all the people who love me no matter what.”
When accused of using her latest social media rant to promote her new single, “I’m the Drama,” Rexha dismissed the claim, stating, “Marketing? I have no budget for that. I’M FED UP.”
On Wednesday morning (July 3), Rexha shared a tweet that thanked her fans for their support. “Thank you to everyone checking up on me.,” she wrote. “I’m working through these issues and fighting for what I deserve. Many news outlets have asked for an interview. If you want to write about me please support my new music. Thank you again. Love you.“
