BET+ Announces Fall Programming Slate | Fan-Favorites Return + New Films – UrbanBridgez.com


The temperature may be getting cooler, but BET+ is still turning up the heat with a slate of new movies and series premiering this fall.

From the return of fan-favorites The Impact Atlanta, Carl Weber’s The Black Hamptons and Kingdom Business and the debut of highly anticipated biopics “Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy” and “First Lady of BMF: Tonesa Welch Story” to the arrival of three new thrillers just in time for Halloween, BET+ has what you need to stay entertained this fall and reveling in Black excellence while you do it.

Amazing performances by Yolanda Adams and Serayah (Kingdom Business), Taye Diggs (Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy), Michelle Mitchenor (First Lady of BMF: Tonesa Welch Story), Lamman Rucker and Vanessa Bell Calloway (Carl Weber’s The Black Hamptons), Denise Boutte (The Despaired) and more as well as the directorial debut of Vivica A Fox (First Lady of BMF: Tonesa Welch Story).

“Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy” Part One and Two – September 21 (Part One) / September 28 (Part Two)

When Lance, a successful Atlanta businessman renowned in equal measure for both revolutionizing the city’s 911 system and his womanizing ways, is found murdered in his own home, questions and allegations abound as to who might have wanted him dead. An investigation into the murder is launched which reveals the truths and suspicions behind Lance’s professional and personal life. Was it a business rival, threatened by Lance’s bid for a big contract? Was it a scorned lover jealous of the place occupied in Lance’s bed?

“The Impact Atlanta” (new episodes weekly) and “First Lady of BMF: Tonesa Welch Story” – October 5th

Inspired by a true-life story, Tonesa Welch is a middle-class woman, raised in 1980s Detroit, who becomes seduced by the limelight and adventure of being in the drug game. Tonesa meets H, an older, sophisticated head of a drug organization who gives her a taste of the good life. But when H gets locked up, Tonesa forges a new path with a young, trusted confidante (Southwest T). Together, they build a notorious drug empire that puts Tonesa on a path of crime, drugs, infidelity, deception, and redemption.

“Wake” – October 12th

A brilliant MIT physics professor with severe narcolepsy must venture out of the high-tech, protective video environment of her home when she believes the woman she’s fallen in love with has become endangered by a new famous neighbor with a violent and criminal past after he moves into their upscale neighborhood and takes an interest in her friend.

“God’s Grace: The Sheila Johnson Story” – October 19th

Sheila Marie Johnson had to retire from the Air Force at age 43 after being diagnosed with stage IV metastatic breast cancer. With the emotional support of her father, daughter and best friend, Sheila later goes on to found an advocacy group to support and empower Black women and men diagnosed with the disease.

“The Despaired” – October 26th

A grieving mail carrier finds a mysterious letter that resurrects her husband from the dead, with the race against time she must make three sacrifices before he’s banished to the abyss for eternity.

“Stay Out”

Donovan Jones, a businessman who lives in California with his beautiful wife Simone, receives a phone call from an Estate Attorney. She informs him that his aunt Velma and uncle Rufus have passed away and also tells Donovan that he is the sole beneficiary of their estate.

When he travels to rural Georgia to fulfill his aunt and uncle’s wishes, he learns that Rufus was brutally murdered. In life, Rufus and Velma practiced black magic. In death, Rufus will possess and use Donovan as a vessel to murder those who killed him as well as their descendants.

Carl Weber’s “The Black Hamptons” not only features the glitz and gloss of the Black elite, but also exposes the secrets of wealth and prestige.
