The much-hyped concert film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, had its premiere on Wednesday in Los Angeles. Beyoncé attended the event in support of her fellow icon – the two together are sometimes dubbed Beyonswift.

Swift shared a post on Instagram in tribute to the Halo hit maker, writing:

“I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without [Beyoncé’s] influence. The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms. Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility. She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale.”

Swift’s Eras tour runs from 17 March to 23 November and there have been predictions that the tour could break the $1 billion mark in its gross.

Beyoncé concluded her Renaissance tour at the beginning of October and announced her own concert film. The Renaissance tour raked in $461.3 million, making it the highest-grossing tour by a woman, according to Billboard.

Along with the Swifties flooding the scene of the premiere, a roster of other celebrities were also at the event, including Adam Sandler, Julia Garner, Flava Flav, Hayley Kiyoko and Simu Liu.

“Every single person in this theater has been hand-selected and hand-picked and invited to this night because you’ve shown some sort of extra type of support for this tour, and I appreciate that more than you could possibly know,” Swift said in an introductory speech to her fans.

She continued:

“I’m always looking out for people with elevated levels of passion, incredible senses of humor on the internet, and attention to detail. These things are very important to me. So thank you for everything you’ve done that just got us all in this one room.”

“I appreciate you being here because this night is a core memory for me and you’re a part of it,” she added.

Swift further talked about her career and always having fun with it.

“I’ve never had this much fun in my life as I have had on the Eras Tour. It is far and away just the most electric experience of my life.”

She continued talking about the experience of the tour, “We did this show rain or shine, in sickness and in health, no matter what was going on in our lives. And we did it with a grin on our face because of what greeted us on the other side.”

“What you guys were doing in the audience — the amount of care and preparation and passion [and] intensity that you put into coming to these shows. … You pulled us out of anything rough that might have been going on in our lives. You let us forget about it for 3.5 hours every night on that stage. So thank you so much for doing that for us.”

Swift had closed down the The Grove luxury mall, booking the entire venue for the premiere, with the films playing in more than 13 AMC cinemas.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour opens in theatres on 13 October in 8 500 cinemas in 100 countries and showing in Ster-Kinekor and Nu-Metro in South Africa.

Advance ticket sales for the concert film have already topped $100 million worldwide. The demand for tickets have been high in SA as well.
