President Joe Biden will visit Los Angeles next week for a major fundraiser bolstered by entertainment industry, his first since long-term strikes by writers and actors ended.
The event will take place next Friday at the home of celebrity interior designer Michael Smith and his partner James Costos, a former HBO executive who was President Barack Obama’s ambassador to Spain, the Associated Press reports.
“We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm. We don’t do many events, but when we do, we do it out of a great passion,” Smith said, per AP.
The event is expected to raise millions and will include a star-studded crowd.
Other hosts include Steven Spielberg, his wife Kate Capshaw and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA. Guests include recording industry mogul David Geffen, director Shonda Rhimes, and director Rob Reiner, according to an invitation obtained by the AP.
More upcoming fundraisers for Biden are also being planned in Boston, Washington and Maryland, according to anonymous AP sources. Biden is also expected to appear in Philadelphia alongside Gov. Josh Shapiro.
