One of Canada’s best-known comedians is coming home this winter — for one night only.

Saskatchewan’s own Brent Butt, who’s originally from Tisdale, is slated to visit the Casino Regina Show Lounge on March 14 as part of a Western Canadian tour that includes just one stop in his home province.

“I love what I do,” Butt says in a media release. “I look at it as just having coffee. Only now it’s with hundreds of people at a time.”

The Gemini-winning comedian/actor is best known as the creator and star of former Saskatchewan-based TV series Corner Gas. Butt was named the best male stand-Up comedian in Canada at the 2001 Canadian Comedy Awards and is a recipient of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions and achievements in the entertainment business.

Butt’s debut novel, Huge, was a national best seller in 2023.

Everclear is coming to the Casino Regina Show Lounge on April 11.

The Grammy-nominated American rock band, led by original frontman Art Alexakis, has sold over six million records since debuting in 1992.

Everclear is responsible for 11 studio releases, four of which were certified gold or platinum, as well as 12 top-40 singles. That includes popular hits like Santa Monica, Father of Mine, I Will Buy You A New Life, Wonderful, and Everything To Everyone.

Alexakis was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2019 and has since donated one dollar from every ticket to charities such as Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and National MS Society.

The Regina Symphony Orchestra kicks off 2024 with a “Brahms Duett” as part of its free library concert series on Jan 14 (2 p.m., Central Library), Jan. 17 (7 p.m., Sunrise Branch) and Jan. 18 (7 p.m., Glen Elm Library).

That’s followed by two paid shows titled New Year, New Music on Jan. 27 (2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) at Government House (tickets at reginasymphony.com).

There are also free community concerts on Jan. 30 at Everyday Kitchen and Jan. 31 at Bushwakker Brewpub in conjunction with the Frost Regina Winter Festival.

The Cathedral Village Arts Festival is hosting the Taste of Cathedral fundraiser at the Canadian Italian Club of Regina on Jan. 27.

Taste of Cathedral features a cash bar courtesy of Rebellion Brewing and culinary offerings from the neighbourhood as well as live music by local guitarist David Put. There’s a silent auction featuring items such as gift cards from local business, original art, vintage items, and a signed Connor Bedard jersey.

The cuisine selections are from: 13th Avenue Food & Coffee House, Auntie Maggie’s Caribbean Meals, Blanco Cantina, Canadian Italian Club, Cuppa T’ Specialty Fine Teas, Elle’s Café, Fiesta Filipino, Shannon’s Pub & Grill, and Sinfully Sweet Cathedral Bakery.

Award-winning singer and actress Andrea House is bringing “The Story of Linda Ronstadt” to the Casino Regina Show Lounge on March 8.

“(House’s) powerful yet nuanced voice creates an authentic experience of Ronstadt’s iconic sound,” says a media release. “Coupled with a full band and an immersive multimedia presentation, the show is an unforgettable and uplifting celebration of the life and legacy of one of the most admired and inspirational woman in music both on and off the stage.”

The 11-time Grammy winner is known for classic songs like When Will I Be Loved, You’re No Good, and Blue Bayou.

“Crowned the Queen of Rock, Ronstadt is much more than that,” adds the release. “Her career is an adventurous mix of unprecedented musical versatility, political activism and female empowerment. It’s one filled with almost unimaginable highs coupled with life-changing challenges including the biggest battle of her life as Parkinson’s disease threatens to take over the voice loved and admired by millions of fans.”
