Britney Spears confirms her retirement from the music industry

Although she had been away from the stage for years and her last album Glory was released in 2016, many Britney Spears fans still dream that she will return. More so when people around her began to speculate about a supposed return to music and the possibility of what would have been her tenth studio album.

However, the illusion lasted just a few hours, as the protagonist herself took it upon herself to describe the rumors as “garbage” and clarified her current situation with respect to the music industry. “Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash!!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album… I will never return to the music industry!!!”, she stressed in a post on her Instagram account which appears to have since been deleted.

Even so, although she rules out going back on the album-tour circuit in the same way that many other artists and singers are involved, Spears is still creatively active and says she is happy composing for other artists. She co-wrote Whiplash by Selena Gomez and the Scene as well as Follow Me for her sister Jamie Lynn Spears. “When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people!!! I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way!!!”
