Britney Spears Shuts Down Rumors That She’s Seeking Help To Create New Album, Says She’ll ‘Never Return To The Music Industry’ Outside Of Being A Ghostwriter
Pop sensation Britney Spears is clearing up speculations about her return to music.
The 42-year-old took to Instagram recently to address reports that she’s been searching for a producer for a forthcoming project.
Denying that there is any truth to the stories, Britney Spears wrote:
“Just so we’re clear most of the news is trash !!! They keep saying I’m turning to random people to do a new album … I will never return to the music industry !!! When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people !!!”
She added:
“For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me … I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years !!! I’m a ghostwriter and I honestly enjoy it that way !!! People are also saying MY BOOK WAS RELEASED WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ILLEGALLY and that’s far from the truth … have you read the news these days ??? I’m so LOVED and blessed !!!
Reportedly, Spears‘ comments come on the heels of several news outlets claiming to have inside information that she’s returning to the studio. One outlet reported that sources have stated:
“[her] management and A&R are trying to get her excited for the music.”
However, they reportedly noted that she has not yet begun recording anything new. Instead, insiders claimed her team has been putting together different songs to present to her, though they’ve reportedly been hesitant because of uncertainties regarding her readiness to get back into the swing of things. Music journalist Tomás Mier did add that despite her rejections at reintegrating into the music scene, she reportedly does have a project in the “early stages.” This has not been confirmed.
It’s clear, however, that Spears has no intention of returning as a recording artist anytime soon. Back in 2016, the songstress released her ninth and last studio album “Glory,” which became critically acclaimed and debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. Since her controversial conservatorship ended in 2021, the Grammy winner has released two new songs, a record with Elton John titled “Hold Me Closer” (2022) as well as a collaborative track with Will.I.Am. titled “Mind Your Business” (2022).
Due to the amount of trauma she endured at the hands of her father Jamie Spears, who was the executive of her conservatorship for nearly 13 years and controlled everything from her career decisions to her finances, the singer has openly expressed her disdain for the entertainment industry. In her memoir released last year, the “Toxic” artist talked about her time in legal confinement and called out those who failed to help her, including her sister Jamie Lynn Spears, and her children’s father Kevin Federline.
Judging by her recent message about getting back into music, it seems the pop star still has some healing to do.
