Britney Spears took to Instagram on Jan 3 to squash rumors of a new album.
Despite vowing that she’d never return to the music industry, Spears said she’d been a ‘ghostwriter’ for other artists and had written over 20 songs in the last two years. However, her post didn’t specify which songs she had a hand in.
Spears released only a few pieces of music — and mostly single collections and ‘best of’ tracks, at that — between 2008 and 2021, which was during her controversial conservatorship. Her last album, ‘Glory,’ was released in 2016, followed by two singles in 2022, according to the AV Club. Spears’ last performance was in 2019, after her Las Vegas residency was cancelled.
