More details have emerged about the passing of Rocky star Carl Weathers at the age of 76..
The death certificate lists “atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease” as the beloved actor’s official cause of death. According to the document, obtained by The Blast, Weathers passed away at his home in Venice, California on Feb. 2 at 12:18 am.
The death was listed as “natural,” with the document saying that Weathers had suffered from heart disease for years.
The certificate describes the actor as having spent 51 years in the entertainment industry.
Weathers starred as Apollo Creed in the first four Rocky films and appeared in Predator, The Mandalorian, Happy Gilmore, Action Jackson, Arrested Development and dozens of other films and TV shows.
In a statement at the time of his death, Weathers’ family said that “he died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024.”
“Carl was an exceptional human being who lived an extraordinary life,” the statement continued. “Through his contributions to film, television, the arts and sports, he has left an indelible mark and is recognized worldwide and across generations. He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, partner and friend.”
