Carter Berger Signs Deal in New York Rangers Organization


KALAMAZOO, Mich. – New York Rangers Assistant General Manager and Hartford Wolf Pack General Manager Ryan Martin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman Carter Berger on a one-year, standard AHL player contract.

Berger was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and now begins his career in professional hockey. He joined the Broncos prior to the 2022-23 season and immediately made his presence felt. 

During his two years with the Broncos, the veteran defenseman notched 43 points in 69 games played. He tallied nine goals and 34 assists. During his final season in Kalamazoo, he led all defenseman on the team with 16 assists. 

Additionally, he concluded his two-year stint with the Broncos boasting a +28 plus/minus to go along with 45 blocked shots and two power-play goals. His play throughout the 2023-24 season led to him being named the team’s most valuable defenseman. 

Over the course of his college career, Berger was able to produce 70 points on 13 goals and 57 assists. He played in 156 career games, recording a +42 plus/minus. 

Team wise, Berger helped the Broncos to a third straight NCAA Tournament, which had never been done in program history prior to this season. Additionally, Western Michigan has surpassed 20 victories each of the last three years.
