Celebrities React to Diddy’s Arrest and Disturbing Charges Against Him

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Months after Diddy’s Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided by the FBI, the disgraced rapper was finally arrested and indicted on charges of sex trafficking and more — and stars have wasted no time in reacting.

The Grammy-winning artist — who was seen physically attacking ex Cassie in hotel camera footage released earlier this year — has been charged with sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution, per the 14-page grand jury indictment.

Some of the most disturbing details in the case include Diddy’s (real name: Sean Combs) alleged orchestration of “freak offs” — “sex performances … he often electronically recorded … [that] sometimes lasted for days at a time, involved multiple commercial sex workers, and often involved a variety of narcotics such as ketamine, ecstasy, and GHB, which Combs distributed to the victim to keep them obedient and compliant,” the indictment stated. One of Diddy’s homes was found with 1,000 bottles of lubricant and baby oil. (The rapper formerly known as “Puff Daddy” plans to plead “not guilty,” per his lawyer Marc Agnifilo, who added that Diddy is going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might and the full confidence of his lawyers.”)

Following Diddy’s arrest on Monday, September 17, and the release of his indictment the following day, celebs have been voicing their opinions on the case loud and clear.

Nearly one year later, Diddy was arrested and charged with sex trafficking and more — and celebs didn’t waste time in responding.

Former Danity Kane singer Aubrey O’Day — who previously claimed that she was fired from the group when she refused to engage in Diddy’s alleged requests “in other areas” besides music, as she revealed on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast in 2022 — spoke to TMZ in the aftermath of her former boss’ arrest.

“I never thought I would see this day,” O’Day told the outlet. “We all buried this inside of us in order to be able to keep going. And not just me, but victims you don’t even know yet. We are all processing what that type of vindication can actually feel like now. Every conversation I’ve had with victims last night has been beyond moving on all levels.”

50 Cent — who has long taunted the disgraced rapper over the harrowing allegations against him — took to X, comparing his image to Diddy’s.

“Here I am keeping good company with @DrewBarrymoreTV and I don’t have 1,000 bottles of lube at the house,” the “Many Men” artist wrote on Tuesday.

“S*** bout’ to really get crazy!!!!!!” Foxy Brown wrote via her instagram Story.

Longtime Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God posited that “if [Diddy] gets racketeering and sex trafficking [charges] for freak offs there will be others involved.”

U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said as much during a press conference on Tuesday, alleging that Diddy “did not do all of this on his own,” claiming that his businesses and employees contributed to the “freak offs” by providing everything from the locations, drugs and cash to arranging the travel of “victims and commercial sex workers.”
