Céline Dion’s Reaction to Taylor Swift’s Snub at the Grammys

Taylor Swift has been on the receiving end of criticism after her exuberant acceptance speech for Album of the Year seemingly snubbed presenter Céline Dion at Sunday’s Grammy Awards. It was the French-Canadian singer’s first return to public life after revealing she had been diagnosed with Stiff-Person Syndrome in 2022, so her presence was quite notable.

While Swifties and critics battled it out on social media, Dion handled the entire situation with incredible grace, according to a Page Six source. “I don’t think Céline cared and they talked backstage afterwards. But Céline was just gracious and happy to be there,” the insider noted. Swift was seen cuddling with Dion just moments after they left the stage, which seemingly signaled that all was well between them. However, the source did have some final thoughts about the onstage moment.

“Of course, the right thing would have been for Taylor to acknowledge her, like Adele did years ago,” they added. In 2017, Dion gave Adele the Grammy for Song of the Year where the “Easy on Me” singer made a bowing motion ahead of warmly embracing Dion. And it seems that it how other A-listers treated the 55-year-old superstar behind the scenes — everyone was so happy to see her in person. Oprah Winfrey and Stevie Wonder surrounded Dion with love and affection, proving that she’s one of the most beloved figures in the music industry.

After canceling her world tour last year, Dion has something to prove to anyone who is counting her out. “She wanted to show everyone that she’s doing alright,” the insider continued. “She has good days and bad days … it’s a painful disease, but it’s not a death sentence. Besides looking “fantastic,” the source said that the end goal was “that she will be able to perform” in the near future.

While Swift’s minor controversy will pass, it was probably a lesson learned that nobody puts Dion in a corner. Both women have big hearts, but in that moment, Dion deserved an extra shoutout.
