Charlie Puth Celebrates Music & Inspires Creativity During Intimate Concert | 102.7 KIIS-FM

Charlie Puth stopped by iHeartRadio HQ to host “A Night with Charlie Puth & BIC,” a back-to-school celebration where Puth held a private concert for a few lucky fans and participated in an intimate Q&A with Elvis Duran of Z100 & The Elvis Duran Morning Show.

Fans were able to sing along as Puth performed several of his hit songs like “Attention,” “How Long,” and “See You Again.” He also paid tribute to Liam Payne with an emotional cover of One Direction‘s “Love You Goodbye.”

During the Q&A portion of the night, Puth engaged with audience members, discussed his innovative music creation process, and explained the importance of his partnership with BIC.

“For me and BIC, because they’ve successfully been able to convey with just literally the click of the pen. They didn’t tell me to say this, but with the click of a pen, it’s just, it’s so obvious how color and music kind of parlay into each other. And even having never played that song before, it just takes me to a time of just moving to LA and meeting some people who are still my best friends and people that I’ve been fortunate enough to know in this industry for a decade, like Mr. Elvis, and people who are no longer with us, with me, but the music gets to live on, and that’s a really, really special thing.”

Puth and BIC partnered for BIC’s 4-Color Ballpoint Pen campaign, “A Pen for Every Side of You.” This campaign empowers students and teachers to unleash their creativity by connecting each color of BIC’s 4-Color ballpoint pen to different forms of self-expression.

“With BIC too, one of the first things that I told all of them, is that I want to inspire people who may not think they have it in them to make music. I want to inspire you to make music. You don’t need a fancy-shmancy studio, its nice, but you can make it on your phone. You don’t even need a phone. You can use a recorder and then there it was something else. We all have some sort of musical ability that has yet to be unlocked and I hope that we kind of convey that messaging in this BIC campaign.”

Before the special event, Puth appeared on The Elvis Duran Morning Show, where he discussed various topics, including his wife, his new TV show, and artists who have asked his opinion on their own music. However, he was most passionate about the topic of creating music and encouraging others to start, a mission he supports through his collaboration with BIC.

“It’s nice partnering with a company that supports music education. I mean it’s music education in the United States for some reason is always the last thing to be funded.. Well, I guess, not for some reason. Maybe people just don’t see the point of it sometimes. But it really can like make every other aspect of your life so much better if you start your day with music and the arts are just like criminally underfunded. So it’s just nice being with BIC, who is shining a light.”
