Cherie Hu Joins Bill Werde At Syracuse U’s Bandier Program For Recording & Entertainment







SYRACUSE, NY (HYPEBOT) – Cherie Hu, the founder of music tech research and education collective Water & Music, has joined the faculty of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications’ Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries.

Also a former writer for Forbes, Pitchfork, NPR Music, and Billboard, Hu will work alongside former Billboard Editorial Director Bill Werde, the director of Bandier’s music business program.

One of the music industry’s most respected writers, researchers, and educators, Hu will teach about new music industry business models and emerging technologies full-time starting in the Fall of 2024. She currently teaches about social media and music business data as an adjunct instructor at Newhouse, one of the country’s top communications schools.

Hu will also continue to contribute to Water & Music in a strategic capacity.

Joining Syracuse provides “an incredible opportunity to integrate the forefront of music-industry research with the cutting-edge academic environment at Newhouse,” says Hu. “I look forward to bringing real-world insights and innovative practices on music and tech into the Newhouse classroom, crafting dynamic and enriching learning experiences for the next generation of industry leaders.”
