Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter Presented with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award

The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment congratulates the Recording Academy® New York Chapter and New York-based winners, nominees and honorees recognized at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards®, held Sunday, February 4 in Los Angeles.

During the GRAMMY Awards ceremony, Brooklyn born and raised Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter was presented with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award for his contributions to the industry and for using his platform as an artist and entrepreneur to make a positive impact on the music community. Winner for Best New Artist at the 65th GRAMMY Awards and Best Jazz Performance at the 66th GRAMMY Awards, Samara Joy performed “Can’t Get Out of This Mood”. New York City legends and past GRAMMY recipients Billy Joel and Jon Batiste also put on memorable performances.
