(FOX40.COM) — After three days of battling a fire fanned by fast-moving winds, CAL FIRE announced on Monday morning that they had reached 75% containment of the Corral Fire in San Joaquin County.
What started as a 450-acre fire near the Livermore National Laboratory Site 300, devoured more than 14,000 acres of grassland in less than 72 hours after being accelerated by 40 mph winds.
As containment has steadily increased on the fire, the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services reduced their evacuation order to an evacuation warning on Sunday evening.
“Residents are advised to remain vigilant & prepared for changes. Road Closures will continue to be enforced for non-residents on S Corral Hollow Rd and Chrisman Rd South of I-580,” SJCOE wrote in a news release on Sunday.
CAL FIRE also announced on Monday that I-580 has been reopened in both directions.
