Anime, a style of animation originally from Japan influenced by the drawing style from Japanese comics, or manga, is known for its devoted fan base.

Those fans were out in full force at the Convention Center for the first day of Animé Los Angeles on Thursday, Jan. 4 to revel in the event’s live entertainment, fashion show, industry panels — and of course, to partake in a little cosplaying.

The Animé Los Angeles festivities, meanwhile, will continue until Sunday, Jan. 7.
