Dallas Music Office Launches to Amplify Local Music Scene


DALLAS, June 4, 2024 – Visit Dallas proudly announces the launch of the Dallas Music Office, a dynamic new initiative designed to promote and support the local music industry. As an extension of the Texas Music Office, the Dallas Music Office’s mission is clear: to serve as a dynamic marketing and community-based space for the Dallas music industry.

With a goal to aggregate and amplify, the office will cater to the needs of artists, bands, venues, community members, and all stakeholders invested in the flourishing music scene of Dallas. This office will serve as a central hub for artists, venues, and music enthusiasts, fostering a vibrant and thriving music community in Dallas.

Led by Kristina Kirkenaer-Hart, Director of Cultural Tourism and Dallas Music Office, and Jonathan McNary, the Dallas Music Office’s manager, the office is poised to make a significant impact. To ensure guidance and support for the initiative, a Dallas Music Office Committee has been formed and is comprised of industry leaders. This committee includes renowned artists, influential producers, experienced music managers and prominent venue owners. Together, they bring a wealth of expertise and insight to drive the initiative forward.

Key partners and initial initiatives and include:

  • @dallas_sounds: Leveraging social media to highlight the city’s rich musical landscape. Follow for daily “Did You Know” facts about Dallas’ music scene, venue highlights, and artist/band spotlights. Musicians and venues can register for hire or rental opportunities.
  • KXT Radio: Featuring interviews, streaming of local music, and highlights of Dallas-based artists. A special October Local Music Month will be celebrated with a major media campaign.
  • LOVE Field Stage: A new partnership amplifying Dallas’ music scene at Dallas Love Field, with QR codes linking to a homepage and a calendar of live music events.
  • Dallas Entertainment Awards: Scheduled for early 2025, this event will celebrate local talent across various entertainment sectors.
  • Busking Project: In collaboration with Downtown Dallas, Inc. (DDI) and DART, this project is based on NYC’s Music Under New York program, providing activations around downtown, encouraging longer dwell time, and engaging both residents and visitors.

The Dallas Music Office is committed to making Dallas a premier destination for music lovers and a supportive environment for local artists. By fostering partnerships and leveraging social media, the office aims to create a connected and thriving music community that benefits all Dallas residents.
