Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex, dead at 32 from drug overdose

Dana Carvey’s eldest son, Dex Carvey, has died.

The 32-year-old passed away Wednesday night from an accidental overdose.

Dex was an aspiring comedian and he opened for his father’s 2016 Netflix special “Straight White Male.” In the same year, he also appeared in the short film “Carpool Pandering,” directed by F. Clint DeNisco, opposite Dana.

The “Wayne’s World” actor, 68, and his wife Paula confirmed the news via a heartbreaking message on his Instagram account.

“Last night we suffered a terrible tragedy. Our beloved son, Dex, died of an accidental drug overdose. He was 32 years old,” the post began.

“Dex packed a lot into those 32 years,” the statement continued. “He was extremely talented at so many things — music, art, filmmaking, comedy — and pursued all of them passionately.

“It’s not an exaggeration to say Dex loved life,” the “SNL” alum explained. “And when you were with him, you loved life too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends and his girlfriend Kaylee. Dex was a beautiful person.

“His handmade birthday cards are a treasure,” the post continued. “We will miss him forever.”

According to TMZ ,who was the first to report the news, law enforcement sources reported that first responders rushed to his home in Los Angeles around 10 p.m. after a call was received from Dex’s girlfriend Kaylee.

His body was found locked in a bathroom and he was unresponsive.
