WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Dark Horse Studios in New Hanover County has rebranded to Dark Horse Stages, Inc, the company announced in a news release.

The company says the change better reflects its core business of leasing state-of-the-art sound stages, support spaces, and offices to film and television productions.

Kirk Englebright, President and CEO of Dark Horse Stages, stated that the rebranding aligns more closely with the company’s role in the film community. “As Dark Horse Stages, we emphasize our commitment to providing world-class facilities that empower creators to bring their visions to life. Our new identity provides clarity that we do not produce content, but rather we support creators,” Englebright said.

The rebranding comes as Dark Horse Stages prepares to complete its Stages 3 and 4, which are expected to open this fall. These new stages, which total 40,750 square feet, are designed to meet the evolving needs of modern production teams. The company is already pre-booking the new facilities.

Englebright expressed optimism about the timing of the expansion, noting that it coincides with a resurgence in film production following recent industry developments. “We are excited about the future of film in North Carolina. We are entering an exciting phase as we prepare to unveil Stages 3 and 4,” he added. “The timing couldn’t be better, with anticipated growth in production activities and resolved industry challenges.”
