DeKalb Entertainment Commission plans to ‘ramp up’ film business in the county as writer’s strike ends – WABE

The DeKalb Entertainment Commission‘s job is to build business relationships with Georgia’s constantly expanding entertainment industry, including film, television, music and digital media.

They connect productions to local businesses that can provide support services, as well as get local creatives involved in the industry.

Shelbia Jackson is director of the DeKalb Entertainment Commission, and she joined WABE’s All Things Considered to talk about how the county helped the industry get through the strike.

She said many people and businesses had to pivot, but there was also still a lot of commercials and reality television business coming in.

According to Jackson, DeKalb has become prime real estate for the entertainment industry, with ten sound stages, many production sites, as well as music venues.

Christopher Alston contributed to this report.
