(CNN) – Disney released the first trailer for the newest movie in the “Lion King” franchise.
“Mufasa: The Lion King,” tells Mufasa’s backstory.
It’s a prequel to the 2019 photorealistic “The Lion King.”
Aaron Pierre is voicing Mufasa, and Beyonce returns to voice Nala. Also, Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy, is the voice of King Simba’s daughter.
Several actors from the 2019 film cast are also returning.
The movie hits theaters on December 20.
