Dolly Parton teases new project at Dolly Parton Experience opening event

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) — The “Dolly Parton Experience” is open at Dollywood, but the East Tennessee icon also had a surprise in store for the official opening event.

The new attraction holds some of Dolly’s most famous outfits and fond memories from her years on tour. The grand opening of the attraction drew the attention of people from miles away. One family travelled from Augusta, Georgia saying this new addition to the park is nice.

“It’s very pretty, very well done like everything here at Dollywood,” Alayna, Daniel and Lacey of Augusta, Georgia said. “It’s just clean, nicely done and just really a diamond in the rough.”

The multiple exhibits throughout the “Songteller” attraction and “Behind the Seams” will not remain the same forever as Dolly continues her career.

“Remember though, the artifacts in ‘Behind the Seams’ and ‘Songteller’ gives us a great chance to change the story line,” Dollywood President, Eugene Naughton said. “That’s going to be really fun for us to add to it along the different seasons of the year. It’s also a really good way to say this is a living exhibit. It’s not stagnant.”

For the family from Augusta who loves Dolly and Dollywood, seeing this history was unlike anything else.

“It was really neat getting to see all the different pictures of Dolly throughout her lifetime, listening to the music on the videos and seeing how she grew up and became a star,” the family said.

“Songteller” in the Dolly Parton Experience includes a room that shows a six minute video of Dolly’s life, starting with her upbringing in the Smoky Mountains and ending with her singing ‘I Will Always Love You.’

Friday’s opening wasn’t the only surprise Dolly had up her sleeve. She announced a new album called: ‘Dolly Parton and Family: Smoky Mountain DNA. Dolly says the album will take listeners on a journey through her families musical history.
