Ed Sheeran cancels Las Vegas show at Allegiant Stadium, postponed for late October

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Ed Sheeran canceled his Las Vegas show at Allegiant Stadium Saturday less than an hour before the show was set to begin, according to a statement the artist made on Instagram.

Around 5:30 p.m. Sheeran posted to his Instagram stating in part, “I can’t believe I’m typing this but there’s been some challenges encountered during the load in of our Vegas show. It’s impossible to go forward with the show. I’m so sorry. I know everyone has travelled in for this and I wish I could change it.”

Fans expressed their disappointment following the announcement, but told 8 News Now that they understood that the situation was out of the artist’s hands.

“We love him, it’s not his fault and we are not too far away so we’ll come back but we’re so sad,” 21-year-old fan Emma White who came from Salt Lake City with her family for the concert said.

Sheeran announced that the show will be rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 28 and all purchased tickets will be valid for the date.

“We based our day today on coming here tonight. So, we haven’t done certain stuff because we knew we were coming here tonight so it is a little bit annoying,” Steven Mason said. He traveled from England for his birthday to see the concert with his girlfriend Elisha. They won’t be back for the postponed concert later in October.”

Around 5 p.m., Allegiant Stadium announced on X that doors for the show would be “significantly delayed,” and that the updated time that the doors would open would be at 5:30 p.m.

According to the Clark County Fire Department, there were multiple people treated and released at Allegiant Stadium for heat-related issues. One person was transported to a local hospital for heat-related issues.

Allegiant Stadium release the following statement Saturday:

“Due to technical issues, this evening’s Ed Sheeran concert at Allegiant Stadium has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 28. Previously purchased tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.

We are sorry for the delays and inconvenience caused to all the Ed Sheeran fans who were expecting a concert tonight.
