The unsaid dress code for the Met Gala after-party? Finding the sheerest piece of fabric possible and making a dress out of it. The results? Some truly iconic looks (see: Doja Cat), including the ’fit Emily Ratajkowski stepped out in: a gorgeous sheer beaded dress, paired with a black bra and underwear. Also, a moment (or several) for these shoes!!!
As a reminder, EmRata wore Atelier Versace Haute Couture from 2001 to the Met Gala itself:
The model spoke to Vogue about her look on the carpet and said, “It’s vintage Versace. It’s kind of all about the back, which is just, like, nonexistent. I’m very naked, but what else is new? It is fun. It feels great. It’s party in the back; this is all business.”
Emily also opened up to the New York Times about her dress and revealed, “I have worn things that I have not felt comfortable in, and I do feel that it shows. Maybe it shows in the way that I choose my hair and makeup, or the way I pose, or whatever.” She added that this year, “It feels really natural on me—comfortable, truly. I just wanted to feel like I was wearing something that could be in the exhibit.”
FYI, the gown was sourced from Tab Vintage, and founder Alexis Novak gushed it was “one of those pieces you see and it’s immediately apparent that a lot of care and skill went into it. When I finally saw it in person, the first thing I thought was, This has to be seen.”
Accurate!
