Entertainment industry should be united to tackle the misuse of AI: Rajesh Khattar | Hindi Movie News

Actor Rajesh Khattar, known for his roles in movies like Don 2 and Race 2, is also a known voice-over artist. Khatter has lent his voice to characters like Iron Man from Avengers and Berlinfrom the popular web show Money Heist. In town for a family gathering, the actor expressed concern over the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it is being misused against celebrities.“AI is super powerful, it can do wonders, but out of control, it’s a monster if not used properly,” avers Rajesh, adding, “AI can be used for human benefit but it can be dangerous as well. That is a worrisome thing, particularly in our field. I am also a voiceover artist. With AI, anyone can copy my voice and use it anywhere and as they please. Recently, I was made an offer by a company to give them my voice sample and all rights to them to use as they wanted. They can easily keep using my voice with the help of AI. That I feel is sheer misuse of a tool which should be used for something constructive.”

Rajesh goes on to say, “There is AI training for famous voices. What happens is we just feed the real voice to AI and it can make any audio out of it. Take for example a song of singer Arijit Singh which was recently reproduced with late KK’s voice. Simply by feeding the data to the AI, they can replicate any voice or face and use it in any way. There is a huge scope of gross misuse of it. Amitabh Bachchanji and Anil Kapoor have protected their rights. They are huge stars and have the means to do that. But what about others? How will they protect their work?”
Worried about the fate of actors with AI being used so frequently, Rajesh avers, “There have been cases in the recent past where actor’s images are being used without their consent. They are being animated to make fake videos. On various levels, there is talk about AI and how it can be used in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately, there is no united front willing to talk about its misuse. There are only voices. Like that of Bachchan Sahab who wrote when Rashmika Mandana’s deepfake video was made. What I am worried about is, things on the other end are happening rapidly but our progress is very slow in understanding and processing it. The entertainment industry should be united to tackle the misuse of AI.”
