‘Entertainment Tonight’ Promotes Rachel Smith to Anchor Weekend Show

Rachel Smith has been named anchor of the weekend edition of “Entertainment Tonight.”

“Entertainment Tonight Weekend,” which is an hour-long version of the nightly syndicated entertainment news show, will now broadcast from New York City for the first time in the show’s 42-year history, Variety has learned.

Smith takes over hosting duties of the weekend show from the Big Apple on October 7. She will also continue to serve as a correspondent on the nightly syndicated broadcast.

“Rachel has been a pivotal member of the ‘ET’ team, serving as a vital link to the East Coast and infusing our broadcast with her passion and vibrant personality,” said executive producer Erin Johnson. “With Rachel at the helm of ‘ET Weekend,’ our entertainment coverage will truly span coast to coast.”

Smith joined “Entertainment Tonight” as a New York-based correspondent in 2019. She gained prominence in 2007 when she won the Miss USA pageant and went on to represent the United States at Miss Universe that same year where she placed as fourth runner-up. Smith previously co-hosted CBS’ “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” and the ABC syndicated weekly series “On The Red Carpet.” She has also previously served as a correspondent for ABC’s “Good Morning America” and “Nightline.”

“I’ve always loved telling Hollywood’s stories and I’m beyond thrilled to continue to do that with y’all two more days a week,” Smith said in a statement. “There’s nothing better than juicy celebrity news to get everyone talking, and I can’t wait for ‘ET Weekend’ to dig into every detail for fans across the world.”

Entertainment Tonight is produced and distributed by CBS Media Ventures and co-hosted by Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner. Smith, Cassie DiLaura and Denny Directo serve as correspondents. Johnson is executive producer with Whitney Wallace and Leslie Kawaguchi serving as co-executive producers.
