Eugenia Miranda Richman Named Editor-in-Chief of WWD – The Hollywood Reporter

WWD has named Eugenia Miranda Richman as its new editor-in-chief, effective Jan. 26.

In this role, Richman will oversee the WWD editorial team in the development of its breaking news and business content and guide the evolution and expansion of its print, web, social, video and e-commerce initiatives. Richman will report to Jim Fallon, editorial director of Fairchild Media Group.

“I am honored and humbled to take on such a responsibility — the digital evolution of a legendary New York institution,” Richman said. “WWD’s legacy and authority in the fashion industry is unrivaled, and I look forward to working with Jim to amplify it to a wider audience. With our complementary backgrounds, Jim and I will be able to diversify the brand and business to its fullest potential.”

Said Jay Penske, chairman, founder and CEO of Penske Media (which owns WWD as well as The Hollywood Reporter): “Over the course of her seven and a half years at PMC and most recently SheKnows, Eugenia has successfully grown a robust ecommerce business, created an award-winning video strategy and elevated the look and feel of the brand. Eugenia leads with dedication and passion for her work, and I look forward to watching what she does in this role.”

Richman previously served as the editor-in-chief of SheKnows, where she doubled its readership and is credited with elevating its look, feel and coverage. Under her leadership, SheKnows launched new editorial products including glossy digital issues and topical virtual events and won awards. During her tenure, she grew users by 100 percent and page views 180 percent.

“We … are eager for [Richman] to bring her deep expertise and extensive background in digital media to help continue the digital transformation of WWD, which is already seeing historic highs in traffic,” Fallon said. “Working with Eugenia, the goal is to reinforce WWD’s global authority, grow such new initiatives as WWD Weekend and reach even more readers and followers across all of our platforms.”

Added Amanda Smith, Fairchild Media Group President: “As WWD expands and innovates its product offerings across platforms and categories, her leadership and vast experience in building brand communities and connecting with audiences in new and innovative ways will be a huge asset to the future of the brand, and to all our partners. I am excited for the endless possibilities this represents.”

Richman also has served as the digital director for Footwear News. She also has held editor positions at Vogue.com, xoJane.com, Café Media and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and has written for InStyle, Billboard, Marie Claire, Cosmo for Latinas, Glam Belleza Latina, NBCNewYork.com, Woman’s Day, Mundo Hispánico and Atlanta Latino.
