Ex-SM Entertainment CEO’s TITAN CONTENT to open global auditions for ‘next wave of global K-Pop superstars’


TITAN CONTENT, which was launched less than a month ago by former SM Entertainment CEO Nikki Semin Han, plans to seek out the “next wave of global K-pop superstars” through its first international auditions.

The initiative, set to take place from January to March 2024, commences in North America and Australia, and aims to identify and nurture talent, the company said.

Beginning with auditions in prominent locations such as Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Houston, Atlanta, Vancouver, Toronto, Hawaii, and Australia, TITAN CONTENT‘s Global Auditions invite individuals to showcase their “talent, passion and uniqueness, through their own creativity.”

In addition to identifying raw talent, the Global Auditions also aim to offer comprehensive support in developing “the future stars of K-Pop,” TITAN said.

“These auditions will provide ambitious artists with an unprecedented opportunity to step onto the world stage… showcasing their artistry, charisma, and dedication to K-pop.”  

TITAN, established as the first US-based music company dedicated to the K-Pop genre, has its headquarters in Los Angeles and studios in both Los Angeles and Seoul. 

Formed by founders who have played key roles in shaping K-Pop into a global cultural phenomenon, TITAN has worked with K-Pop superstars like BoA, Girls’ Generation, SUPER JUNIOR, EXO, The Boyz, TWICE, and ITZY, among others.

TITAN is financially backed by RW3 Ventures, Raptor Group and Korea-based Dreamus Company.

In the South Korean music industry, the creation of K-Pop groups through television shows is a widespread practice. These shows, commonly known as “idol survival shows,” adhere to a format where individuals, typically aspiring singers or trainees, engage in competitive challenges to secure a position in a newly formed idol group.

Groups formed through these shows have gained popularity in and out of South Korea, among them NCT Dream, Pentagon, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, Momoland and Monsta X.

Last month, SM Entertainment, the company behind NCT Dream, aespa and SuperM, partnered with UK television production company Moon&Back Media to seek and launch a UK boy band to a global audience.

SM rival HYBE has joined forces with Geffen/Universal Music Group to globalize the “K-Pop methodology” through the launch of auditions for the “Global Girl Group.”
