Film Independent, FX Launch Latino TV Incubator Program – The Hollywood Reporter

Film Independent and FX have come together to support Latino creators in television.

In collaboration with the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, the entities have teamed to launch the Imaginar TV Incubator for Fearless Latinx Creators. Over two weeks, six said creators will participate in workshops and direct meetings with industry leaders to help develop their drama pilots, starting with a three-day intensive that will include honing their pitching skills and learning about FX’s development process.

At the end of three days, the creators will pitch their pilots to FX, then spend the rest of their 11 days or so meeting individually with creative advisors and execs to create a second original drama idea that will be pitched to the network on the last day of the incubator program. Each participant will receive a $3,000 grant as well as travel grants as necessary.

“Earlier this year, we launched the groundbreaking Imaginar Producers Residency to help Latinx producers build a pathway towards producing for studios,” Film Independent director of artist development Angela C. Lee said in a statement. “Today, we are so thrilled to expand our support of Latinx artists with the Imaginar TV Incubator.”

The regular application deadline for the new program is Feb. 2, 2024. Film Independent members have an extra week and must submit their applications by Feb. 9.

“This program continues our longstanding commitment to developing programming that is reflective of the world we live in, and amplifying the voices we have not yet heard from,” FX senior vice president of creative and cultural diversity Shola Ajewole said in a statement. Added FX Entertainment president Gina Balian, “By combining Film Independent’s innovative writer programs and knack for finding the next generation of creators with FX’s brand of fearless storytelling, we have been able to create a new program to engage Latinx creators in our search for the next hit series for FX.”
